Many players struggle with their putter from short distance and are always looking for new putting tips. Most have trouble with putts from this distance due to a lack of putting tips on what the putter should be doing. In the long run, a lack of proper information, leads to a loss of confidence and more missed putts. Thus the downward spiral starts and many players think that they will never get out of it.
The good news is that you can get out of it by following the putting tips below. These putting tips are tried and true and have helped many take charge of their putting stroke and return to the great putter they once were. Here are three putting tips that you can make happen during any good golf swing:
Flip Down Monitors
1. Ball position
Where the ball is placed at address is very important to how the putt will roll once it is struck. Proper ball position to strike a good putt begins with the middle of the putter head in the center of your stance. As you take your address and look down at the top of your putter, the center of the head should be in the middle of your stance or some say in between your feet. Since the putter head is taking up the middle of your stance, this means that the golf ball is just ahead of the middle of your stance.
2. Weight placement
As you take your address to stroke a putt, you should have more weight on your leg closer to the hole. For right-handed golfers, this simply means that you will have more weight on your left foot or left leg. The question of how much will vary from player to player. With that being said, it will probably end up somewhere between 60-65% on your forward foot. Think about it. Any good golf shot that is struck has more weight on the forward foot than the back. The same is true with the putting stroke.
3. Finish Position
Once you have made your putting stroke, the grip of the putter should be past your front leg. Most amateurs get in trouble because they flip or pop at a putt and the grip or handle of the putter never gets past their leg. This means that they have more than likely hit the putt on the bottom of the club face. This is troubling, as controlling distance will be a big challenge for someone who putts with this putting method.
An easy way to monitor this is to count to three very slowly once you have reached the finish position. This will give you time to evaluate your finish and improve it quickly. To be a consistent putter, you must learn to make contact on the same spot on the putter face.
Quit looking all over the place for new putting tips. By implementing these three putting tips into your golf game, you will lose all fear of putting as you will be watching many of your putts go into the hole.
